  Nach dem erfolgreichen Album „Select“ gab es bis zur Veröffentlichung des dritten Studioalbums „Catch As Catch Can“ im Herbst 1983 noch eine Tournee Ende 1982 und dazu mit „Child Come Away“ eine Single, die weder auf „Select“ enthalten ist noch später auf „Catch As Catch Can“ veröffentlicht wurde. Von den Musikkritikern wurde „Catch As Catch Can“ regelrecht gelobt. Eine pop- und discoorientierte Platte, deren Songs von melodischen und harmonischen Ideenreichtum gekennzeichnet sind. Ein vielschichtiges Album mit ausgereifter Musik und überzeugend von Kim Wilde präsentiert. Kommerziell verkaufte sich das Album nicht annähernd so gut wie seine beiden Vorgänger. In England erreichte „Catch As Catch Can“ nur Platz 90 und war auch nur eine Woche lang in den Verkaufscharts gelistet. Im restlichen Europa lief es da schon besser. Während sich die Vorabsingle „Love Blonde“ noch gut in den Charts behaupten konnte, verkaufte sich die zweite Auskopplung „Dancing In The Dark“ deutlich schlechter. Der bevorstehende Wechsel von RAK Records zu einem neuen Plattenlabel gab es im Frühsommer 1984 mit „House Of Salome“ noch eine dritte Single, die aber nur in Europa ohne England veröffentlicht wurde.
 „Catch As Catch Can“ ist in vielen europäischen Ländern, Australien, Süd-Afrika, Japan und Mexico als Schallplatte oder Musikkassette erschienen. Nach der Markteinführung des Formates Compact Disc erscheint „Catch As Catch Can“ auf diesem Format 1984 nur in Japan. Lange Zeit war diese CD der „heilige Gral“ für jeden Kim Wilde Fan bis es „Catch As Catch Can“ 1995 als Teil der 3-CD-Box „The Originals“ auch in Europa offiziell auf CD gab. 2009 veröffentliche Cherry Pop „Catch As Catch Can“ in einer remastered Version zusammen mit den Bonustracks „Backstreet Driver“, der 7“ und 12“ Version von „Love Blonde“ sowie der 12“ Version und Instrumentalversion von „Dancing In The Dark“.
  The third studio album “Catch As Catch Can” was released in autumn 1983. The album got good reviews from the press. A pop and disco-orientated album with songs full of harmonic and melodic ideas. A near-concept album. Commercially the album didn’t sell as good as its predecessors. “Catch As Catch Can” spent only one week in England peaking at number 90. In several European countries the album did much better. “Love Blonde” was the first single and did quite well in the charts. The second single off the album “Dancing In The Dark” was less successful. In early summer 1984 a third single was released. “House Of Salome” was a single in Europe except UK and South-Africa. It was the last single before the change from RAK Records to a new record label.
“Catch As Catch Can” was released in many European countries, Australia, South-Africa, Japan and Mexico on vinyl and tape format. In Japan it was also released on the new format compact disc. The cd became a rare collector’s item until the album was re-released in 1995 as part of 3-CD-box “The Originals”. A remastered edition was released by Cherry Pop in 2009 and contains the bonus tracks “Backstreet Driver”, the 7” and 12” version of “Love Blonde” and the 12” version and instrumental version of “Dancing In The Dark”.
