  „Breakin‘ Away“ ist die erste Single aus dem neunten Studioalbum „Now & Forever“ und wurde vier Wochen vor dem Albumstart im September 1995 veröffentlicht. „Breakin‘ Away“ erscheint als Single in Europa, UK, Australien und Japan. Trotz Video zur Single und wenigen TV Auftritten vor allem in England wird die Single kein wirklicher Hit.
„Breakin‘ Away“ ist laut MCA info eine dance-orientierte Nummer mit groovigen Housebeats. So richtig abtanzen kann man bei den clubtauglichen Mixen, von denen es einige gibt. Von „Breakin‘ Away“ gibt es sieben Versionen. Neben der Albumversion gibt es einen Radio Mix und einen Original 12“ Mix. Zusätzlich gibt es noch den Matt Darey 12“ Vocal, den Matt Darey Dub, den T-empo Vocal und den T-empo Dub. Als Bonustrack (bei der Schallplatte würde man immer noch B-Seite sagen) gibt es mit „Staying With My Baby“ einen Song, der zumindest in Europa nicht auf dem Album enthalten ist.
„Breakin‘ Away“ erscheint in Europa und England als 12“ Maxi-Single und auf Maxi-CD. In Europa gibt es noch eine Single-CD, die nur zwei Titel enthält. Auf dem Format Cassette Single gibt es die Single jedoch nur in England. Zu Promotionzwecken gibt es zwei 12“ Maxi-Singles, auf denen zum Teil Versionen enthalten sind, die bislang noch nicht auf CD veröffentlicht wurden.

MCA described “Breakin’ Away” as a dance-orientated track with groovy house beats. Good to dance on the various club-friednly mixes which were available. There are seven different version of this song. The slbum version, a Radio Mix, the Original Mix, the Matt Darey Vocal, the Matt Darey Dub, the T-empo Vocal and the T-empo Dub. As a bonus song on CD (b-side in vinyl) a song called “Staying With My Baby” was included. This song was not on European pressings of the album.
“Breakin’ Away” was released in Europe and UK on 12” format and Maxi-CD. I_n Europe a 2-track single-CD was also released. The cassette single format was only available in the UK. Two promotional 12” records were released and contains some mixes which have not been released on CD until now.
